Playa del Carmen, located in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo about an hour south of Cancun, is known and loved by Peterson travelers for its beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, and vibrant nightlife where one can enjoy various activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, and shopping at the local markets. In the evenings, Playa takes on a more festive air, with groups of friends, families and strolling musicians filling the street as the local restaurants, bars and discos compete for their attention.
